2009 Update !
Not much happening in my workshop at present but the marathon boat is away being altered and still progressing very slowly. The engine is being upgraded and we really need to get stuck in as the world championships are being held here later this year.
Other than that I don't have a lot to report from the workshop especially since I have been racing the Corvette from the Boulton Racing fleet. Check out their workshop here.

September 2008 ... Nees Racing and a Boat ???
Now if you know any of us Nees family you will probably be aware that we don't really car for boating as it just never seemed fast enough. Well things are about to change at Nees Racing. Yes a full on marathon jet boat is now at our workshop and the plan is to rebuild the entire package and get racing. And when we I say racing its hopeful the speed will exceed 100mph which I understand is bloody fast when you're on water.
Stu Turner last raced this setup in the World Marathon Series a couple of years ago and at that stage he placed 5th overall. So the aim is that we try to achieve that again with me as co-driver ... now that'll be interesting!
The 406ci engine is getting a freshen up with new alloy heads, pistons and a gas guzzling duel carb plus high rise manifold set-up. I say gas-guzzlin cos it's gonna use over 3.5 litres of av-gas per minute once sorted (ouch!).
Repair and refining of the hull plus a new roll cage is required so it's been decided to also change the entire colour of the boat.
It's an all aluminium Eagle tunnel hull with a Legend jet unit and we have a lot of work to do so keep an eye on our progress right here.

The body was thrown on so the car could be used for a photo session.
It is hoped the team posters will be ready by the next meeting.

26th Nov ... Nearly There!
A lot of people have been asking us when we are gonna be racing ... well it could be happenin' this weekend at Woodford Glen. Mark is in the Glen Eagles team against the Nelson Tigers and I am hopeful of competing in the remaining races. The vision I had for the car is taking shape nicely (see photo below but picture quality is crap as I took it late at night).
Malcolm Ngatai has also purchased one of our Honda Jazz body shells for his new car so I'm really looking forward to seeing that as well. If your keen on this latest design for your car then give John Hocken at Reflex a call on (027)211-9971. Cost is $475 ex the Christchurch factory.

8c Superstock Update
The New Superstock body along with it's graphic design is finally taking shape. We have the car back from airbrushing and now await the slack signwriter to finish his part of the job (what time of year is this for him to be holidaying in Oz?)
There have been many enquiries regarding the Honda Jazz bodyshell so here's a sneak peak for those that are interested in purchasing one. This was designed to fit directly onto the Kuriger chassis without any roll cage alteration so we are hopeful it should fit many existing chassis types out there at present. Cost is $475 ex the Christchurch factory and John Hocken at Reflex is the man to talk to on (027)211-9971.

NEES Racing moving to Superstocks!
Superstock racing. Now thats something I never really thought I would get into but with Mark Osborne putting me into his car last season my mind was changed instantly. This V8 has serious horsepower and although weighing nearly twice as much as Jane Honda I was surprised at how well the car handled.
Mark and I have done a deal where I will get a handful of meetings in the car during the coming season. He suggested running two car bodies with different livery so I took that on board and have since gotten a bit carried away. We have made a unique new body shell (Honda of course) and come up with an "out there" graphic design.
The body, bonnet and wing are all currently away getting airbrushed and will get the NEES Graffix treatment upon their return so "stay tuned" for pictures and updates once we get it all together. Till then ...

Jane is SOLD !
Yes ... after racing her for 6 years since her return from the north island she will be heading back down south. Jane Honda was originally built in Invercargill and I am sure that returning to the south will see her continue to do well. It will be a shame to see her go as the team did extremely well with the car over many years of racing. She provided me with two Canterbury Saloon Championship Titles and many other championship wins and placings. Just take a look on the achievements page. The workshop is lined with trophies, plaques and ribbons which I would expect places this car into a unique category of being won of the most winningest speedway cars throughout New Zealand. And in fact we had just advanced into 3rd place overall for the clubs season points at Woodford Glen and we were also leading the Saloon Feature points by a considerable margin at the time of her sale too. It just goes to show how reliable this car is, even when racing in such a competitive environment as we now have at Woodford Glen. We now look forward to our next racing venture so "Watch This Space".

January 2007
Jane Honda has just undergone some mid season maintenance including new fuel & oil filters, oil change, carb clean & check. Also an overhauled rack & pinion, some fresh front hubs, wheel bearings and suspension joints. This should keep her cruising along happily and most importantly ... "reliable". |
